Piers Morgan's wife Celia appeared on ITV's Lorraine, hosted by Christine Lampard, to discuss her "marriage sabbatical" from her husband.

Christine welcomed Celia, who was in France, to the studio and the pair began discussing her decision after Christine noticed that she was "still on her own".

The couple had decided to take a short break from each other and Celia admitted that they hadn't spoken to each other much, "only texted".

Christine wondered who had been looking after their daughter, to which Celia told her that the mother and daughter had been spending time together throughout the break.

Their daughter had spoken to Piers over video chat but had Celia maintained her distance.

Fans took to Twitter to discuss the unusual move and had their own thoughts on the matter.

One viewer tweeted that the whole thing sounded "very weird," while another wondered if they had problems in the bedroom.

A brutal fan cheekily wrote: "Most of us would need a marriage sabbatical, a permanent one, if we were married to Piers Morgan."

Christine told viewers that Celia had said the break "worked wonders for their relationship".

Journalist Celia wrote a piece about their experience and told viewers about her findings.

She said: "I described it in the piece as kind of like rebooting your computer. Sometimes, it's not that there's anything in particular that is wrong, just comes to a bit of a halt and you reboot it. Suddenly – ding! – it comes back to life!"

Celia then explained that they had "just over five weeks apart" over the summer, which was partly due to "work commitments".

Christine then asked whether the couple are "planning another one" and "what the future holds for them".

Celia admitted: "Probably a good moment to have it – Christmas is always a bit of a nightmare, isn't it? In terms of, coming out of Christmas and into January, nobody wants to be anywhere near their family. So, I think possibly by February I'll be ready for another one. Maybe just a fortnight this time, or even a week."

She then admitted that a weekend would work and claimed she was "thinking of setting up some kind of sabbatical camp," where "women could come and do activities" and "none of them involve husbands".
