Power season 6: Why did Tasha kill Lakeisha?
The final season of Power hasn’t been one to shy away from a bloody and brutal death in its first eight episodes on Starz and Netflix. Arguably the most heart-breaking came when a scuffle between former BFFs Tasha (played by Naturi Naughton) and Lakeisha (La La Anthony) ended with the latter being shot in the head. So how did the two’s relationship turn from being best friends to deadly enemies? Here are all the clues.
Why did Tasha kill Lakeisha on Power?

It’s fair to say the final few moments of episode eight, Deal with the Devil, came as a shock to Power fans.
Just as Tommy (Joseph Sikora) was preparing to propose to Lakeisha, she took a bullet in the head from Tasha.
Tommy arrived home with her son Cash (Denim Robertson) to find her lifeless body on in the porch of their brand new suburban home.
Initially, it doesn’t appear Tommy knows it was Tasha who pulled the trigger.

However, fans will have to wait until episode nine to find out for certain whether he pieces together the clues.
Lakeisha’s brutal end may have come as a surprise but there are several clues as to why Tasha took such drastic action.
The first and arguably most obvious reason for killing Lakeisha is to protect Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr).
The reason Tasha was at Lakeisha’s house in the first place was to warn her to stop bringing up Tariq’s name in conversation, particularly with law enforcement.

When Tasha finds a signed police paper by Lakeisha offering her wetness protection, she instantly thinks it’s so she can give up Tariq to the police.
Lakeisha says to Tasha: “I signed the papers because Child Services was there. They was gonna take Cash! I got a plan, you know I’m not a snitch.”
Tasha’s mind, however, is only focussed on protecting her son as she says: “What’s your plan, huh? You gonna rat on Tariq?”
Lakeisha tries to reassure Tasha the police are only interested in Tommy but her former best friend is less than convinced.

When Lakeisha makes a beeline for her gun, perhaps Tasha feels she has no choice but to kill her to keep Tariq safe.
Another potential reason for Tasha killing Lakiesha could be to actually protect Tommy too.
Lakeisha tells Tasha the police are only interested in catching Tommy.
As such, Tasha naturally would think Lakeisha would throw him under the bus to save herself.
Over the course of six seasons now, Power fans have seen just how close Tommy and Tasha are.
The pair on more than one occasion refer to each other family – and Tasha always puts family first.

Tasha knows she can’t take the risk of Lakiesha giving up Tommy to the police as well as it would inevitably lead to the capture of her family.
A third possible reason for Tasha killing Lakeisha in such a remorseless way could be down to the pair’s toxic friendship.
Power first began on Starz and Netflix back in 2014 and the pair were the best of friends.
However, over the course of five years, their relationship has turned beyond sour, emphasised by Tasha’s emotionless stance when killing Lakeisha.
Even when Lakiesha brings up Cash, Tasha remains unmoved.
Perhaps this was Tasha’s way of finally getting one over of her frenemy once and for all.
Power season 6 returns to Starz on Sunday and Netflix on Monday.
