Good Morning Britain presenter Ranvir Singh says she feels "crushed" that she can't do more to help her colleague Kate Garraway.

Kate, 53, had had a tough year as her husband Derek Draper continues to battle health issues in hopsital after contracting coronavirus in March 2020.

The broadcaster has been supported by her GMB co-stars who have spoken about how they've been trying to help Kate and her two children Darcey, 14, and William, 11, throughout this challenging time.

ITV political editor Ranvir, 43, has revealed that it's "crushing" feeling knowing that they can't do more due to strict lockdown restrictions.

The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant told Hello! Magazine: "If I could be in her bubble and in her kitchen cooking for her, I would.

"All I can do is call to talk or send things in the post.

"When Kate told me her kids are into eating fruit, I sent them a basket of fruit."

"Not being able to do more is crushing."

Kate has been busy homeschooling her two young children and single mum Ranvir says she's has offered her pal some words of wisdom.

She said: "Kate's having to be a single parent to their two children, which is so hard."

"I told her, 'Being a single mum is like hiking in flipflops through the snow every day.'

"But Kate is remarkable, a proper grafter."

Former I'm A Celebrity contestant Kate recently admitted that she's struggling to cope being the sole part at home.

“I’m not sure I am coping! I honestly don’t know how single mums do it; it’s just so hard," she told Good Housekeeping of her current situation.

She told Good Housekeeping recently: "A lot of the time I find myself thinking, 'What would Derek say?’ and ‘What would Derek do?'.

"I’m lucky that I’m being supported by lots of friends, too, and Ranvir [Singh] has been really helpful because she’s been operating as a single mum since her son, Tushaan, was very little.

"I asked her, 'How do you do it?' and she said, 'You just have to accept that you can’t do everything.'"

Kate who has been married to Derek since 2005, is getting on with life as best she can and is determined to keep her family in high-spirits considering their turmoil.

In a recent interview, she explained: "It's very much two steps forward, three steps back.

"But if I think back to where we were in March 2020. When Derek's lungs were solid with infection and his infection rates were the highest doctors had seen in anyone who has lived, we're undoubtedly in a more positive place."

Ranvir is filling in for Lorraine Kelly on her IT talk show all this week.
