Ruth Langsford and Phillip Schofield’s feud explained – The Sun

TALKS of a strained relationship between Phillip Schofield and Ruth Langsford has been making headlines as viewers learn about behind-the-scenes tension on the This Morning team.

Things flared at the NTAs 2020 when the pair exchanged a VERY awkward hug during an acceptance speech for Best Live Magazine Show.

What started Ruth Langsford and Phillip Schofield's feud?

Back in 2019 The Sun revealed that Ruth Langsford has made an official complaint against Schofield while eight other ITV presenters have spoken to us about what they describe as a “toxic” environment at This Morning.

Ruth's complaint follows an incident in April 2019 which saw Phillip's rudely interrupt her while she was presenting a preview of Loose Women during an episode of This Morning.

In the clip, the presenters clash after Phil rudely cuts a Loose Women segment short, with Ruth slamming her pen down in fury.

The presenter was left furious after on-air spat and Ruth complained to ITV’s embattled new head of daytime TV Emma Gormley over Phillip’s conduct.

A source revealed: “Ruth and Eamonn both appear to be treated harshly by Phillip.

"After Phillip literally cut her off in the middle of a sentence on air when she was hosting Loose Women she decided enough was enough. Yet again nothing changed.”

What happened between Ruth langsford and Phillip Schofield at the 2020 NTAs?

At the NTAs 2020 Phil was seen awkwardly wrapping his arm around Ruth after This Morning won Live Magazine Show.

A show source told The Sun Online the whole thing was 'staged' following the pair's on-going feud.

It looked like Phil was keen to reach out to Ruth on stage as she stood next to him, wrapping his arm around her waist and taking to the mic to thank her and husband Eamonn Holmes for their work on the Friday show.

However Ruth was clearly bristled when Phil put his arm around her.

The moment didn't go unnoticed by viewers at home either, with many cringing as they watched the awkward exchange.

What has Amanda Holden said about Ruth Langsford and Phillip Schofield's feud?

Amanda Holden praised Ruth for making a complaatin against Phil.

The Heart FM radio DJ, who famously fell out with Schofield after accusing him of getting her fired from the ITV morning show, was asked about the revelations that a "civil war" is brewing as a series of presenters are unhappy about the host’s attitude behind the scenes.

As Ashley Roberts referenced the ongoing drama during her showbiz bulletin on Monday, host Jamie Theakston said: "If only we had someone here who could shed some light…"

Amanda then laughed and added: "Jamie, listen, I have drawn a line… all I will say is I admire anyone who sticks up for themselves as it's not an easy thing to do."

She added: "There is a tin opener and a can somewhere, and other people have found the opener."

In 2018 it was revealed that the Britain’s Got Talent judge believed Schofield was behind her missing out on the coveted role after Holly Willoughby was drafted in to cover I'm A Celebrity.

She was left "shocked when she was taken out to lunch by ITV executives who told her that unfortunately they couldn’t follow through with the offer" to work on the hit magazine show.

"During the lunch they let slip they thought the decision had been heavily influenced by Phil and that he had thrown a spanner in the works," the insider told The Sun.

Rochelle Humes was later called in to replace Holly.
