Who was the winner of Celebrity SAS Who Dares Wins 2019?

Footballer Wayne Bridge was crowned the winner of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins 2019.

Inspired by his SAS: Who Dares Wins experience, Bridges is planning to take on a gruelling 156-mile desert marathon next year.

The final episode saw the remaining recruits who survived the interrogation stage, climb the El Morado glacier in Chile which is 3,0000 metres above seawater.

Prior to this, the celebrities were put through hours of interrogation and held in stress positions with a hood over their faces and played unsettling noises.

The interrogation phase proved too challenging for actor Jeremy Irvine, ruby player Heather Fisher, Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson and rugby player Ben Foden, who all quit the series.

This left TV presenter AJ Odudu, Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton, TV presenter Jeff Brazier and footballer Wayne Bridge to take on the final challenge of the mountain trek and swimming in a frozen lake where their mental and physical strengths were put to the test.

They had to swim under the ice between four holes and then they had to carry each other on their backs for the final 15 minutes to cross the finishing line.

All four managed to cross the finishing line in time but only one could win.

Chief Instructor Ant Middleton said: “Every single one of you have bared your hearts and souls. You have shown us what you’re made of and we are impressed.

“Selection is brutal we only take the best. The main question is who would we have on our team. Number eight you are the only person to pass this course. Well done.”

When Ant hugged the footballer after announcing his victory, he could be heard saying to the footballer “absolutely outstanding”.

Fans took to Twitter to praise the footballer for winning the competition.

One viewer wrote: “Well done you truly deserved it Wayne bridges #SASWhoDaresWins”

Another added: “SAS who dares wins, Wayne bridge winner from day 1 #SASWhoDaresWins.”

Another viewer tweeted: “Go on Wayne Bridges!!! #SASWhoDaresWins #CelebritySAS [sic].”
