SEAL Team has been renewed for season five with filming now underway for the new episodes. There were some major changes introduced in the CBS action-fiction series when it was last on our screens, including the gradual disappearance of Eric Blackburn (played by Judd Lormand). Fans have been hoping though this doesn’t mean he has made a permanent exit ahead of season five.

Will Eric Blackburn return for SEAL Team season 5?

Actor Lormand had been part of the SEAL Team cast as Blackburn since 2018.

He had led the BRAVO Team since season two but in the latest series, he was replaced by Lieutenant Wes Soto (Mike Wade).

This was because Blackburn had been given a promotion in series four, episode seven’s All In.

Blackburn had been made a Commander and assigned as an Executive Officer of DEVGRU.

This meant he was no longer assigned to BRAVO, the team he had dedicated the past few years to.

Lormand was also seen to be listed as a special guest star in episode three rather than a series regular, much to fans’ confusion.

As the drama went on, the less they saw of Blackburn which teased the possibility of a gradual exit for the character.

Thankfully though, Lormand isn’t out the door just yet as he will be popping up in season five.

According to TV Line, Blackburn is going to be making an appearance when SEAL Team returns for season five.

He will feature in the premiere episode which will air on CBS on Sunday, October 10.

It isn’t clear how much he will be in the instalment and if he is going to be in any other future episodes.

Neither Lormand nor the show’s creators have spoken about him exiting SEAL Team.

Going by Lormand’s IMDB page, there are no other projects in the pipeline for the actor.

He hasn’t worked on anything else since joining the cast of SEAL Team three years ago.

Lormand could have wanted to reduce his hours on the show to make time for other lines of work.

Or will his distance from BRAVO somehow be weaved into a future series five storyline?

American fans will be able to watch the premiere of SEAL Team’s fifth season in October.

However, there has been no talk so far as to when UK viewers will get access to the show.

It is predicted to begin on Sky One though sometime in the winter of 2021.

SEAL Team is available to watch on CBS.
