Sex/Life delivered Netflix some of its best ratings to date, with the steamy drama enticing more than 67 million households to watch the eight-episode series. Based on the book, 44 Chapters About 4 Men by BB Easton, the series allowed those stuck at home in lockdown to get a sense of escape from the real world. With season two of the TV show being given the green light due to the impressive viewing figures for season one, when will it be released and who exactly is going to star in it?

When will Sex/Life season two be released?

The first season of the sex-based drama was released on Netflix in June 2021 and was a hit over the summer months.

With Autumn drawing in, the bosses behind the show decided to inform fans they would be getting another dose of the action in a post on social media.

In the short clips, fans are seen giving their reactions to the first season and the caption on Instagram reads: “Are you ready for more? Sex/Life will return for a season two, coming soon.”

Unfortunately, this didn’t give any specific date to when the programme will return or whether the new episodes are being filmed currently.

Following the pattern of other Netflix originals, it is likely season two will premiere in the late spring or early summer of 2022.

Who will be in the cast of Sex/Life season two?

Again, it has not been confirmed who will be in the cast for season two however, following the events of season one, it seems some old favourites will be back.

Actress Sarah Shahi is likely to reprise her role as Billie Connelly, a mother of two who looked set to have an affair with her ex-boyfriend, despite still being married at the end of season one.

Mike Vogel could be back as Billie’s husband Cooper Connelly, who tried desperately to save his marriage the last time viewers saw him.

Adam Demos is likely to return as Billie’s ex-boyfriend and love interest Brad Simon, who was seen welcoming his ex-girlfriend into his apartment for sex at the end of season one.

It has not been confirmed if the supporting cast will return or if fans will be introduced to a new set of characters.

Is there a trailer for Sex/Life season two?

At the moment, there is not a trailer for the upcoming episodes as it is likely they have just started filming or bosses are in the latter stages of completing the scripts.

With the new episodes not likely to drop before next year, it seems fans will have to wait a little longer to get a sneak peek at season two.

Netflix tends to drop trailers for their new content a few short weeks before the latest instalments are made available on the streaming platform.

The only footage the show has released is the fans’ reactions to season one in the announcement of another season.

What will happen in Sex/life season two?

The creator of the series, Stacy Rukeyser, was thrilled with the news the show had been renewed and has dropped some hints about what’s to come.

In a statement, she said: “To create a show about empowered female sexuality that has entranced so many millions of viewers is not only immensely fun but also incredibly gratifying.

“When I think about all the women who have reached out from all over the world to say that the show speaks to them in a deeply personal way, I am so inspired.

“I’m thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to continue telling this story for Billie, and for all of us,” she told Deadline, indicating Billie’s story is not over yet.

Following the final scene of season one, it seemed Brad was OK with being Billie’s ‘bit on the side’ whilst still being married to Cooper.

It is yet to be revealed if the mother of two also spoke with her husband about her decision to “want more” from her sex life.

Fans also know Brad has a controlling, manipulative streak within him and is likely to want more than just sex from his ex-girlfriend.

The writer of the original book, BB, also wrote follow-up novels about relationships with other men so a third love interest could be brought into the situation.

Viewers will have to keep their eyes peeled for more information on season two in the coming months.

Sex/Life season one is available to stream on Netflix.
