Spoilers: David jailed in Corrie as Josh sticks to stabbing lie

David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) is forced to face up to the prospect that he will face years in prison as he is framed for the stabbing of rapist Josh Tucker (Ryan Clayton) in Coronation Street. With Josh insisting that David was the one who tried to kill him, David’s cellmates led by Abe warn David that he had better stick to the story as they make their court appearance today.

With David unable to drop Abe in it, his fate rests in the hands of Josh – who has the power to free David if he were to tell the truth about the violent attack on him. However, he sticks to the lie that David is responsible and David fears the worst as he takes the stand in tonight’s episode.

As the judge passes his sentence for David to be remanded in custody right up to his trial, it looks like he is going to be spending the forseeable future behind bars, which throws his and Shona Ramsey’s (Julia Goulding) wedding plans into crisis.

With Shona placing her hopes that Josh will have an attack of conscience and tell the truth about what happened, doubts begin to creep in that David will be home. And with the evidence piling up against him and a very clear motive for wanting Josh dead, there’s every chance that he could be found guilty at trial and locked up for years.

Next week, Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth) stuns Shona by taking the step of cancelling the wedding but Shona is not ready to give up on her groom just yet and hangs onto the hope of a miracle.

Taking action, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) heads to confront Josh over his lies – but can anyone persuade him to clear David’s name?

Coronation Street continues on Thursday 31st October at 8:30pm on ITV.
