The Witcher fans were greeted with a title card at the end of season two, episode three. At the end of the credits of the Netflix episode, the show commemorated the memory of Steve Davies. The credit doesn’t explain who Davies was or what happened to him – Express.co.uk has the details.
Who is Steve Davies?
Right at the very end of the credits of season two, episode three, fans saw a title card that reads: “In memory of Steve Davies.”
While Davies didn’t directly work on The Witcher, he was a creative in the industry, likely working closely with members of the production team of the series.
Davies worked as a camera expert, working in the camera and electrical departments on numerous productions.
Tragically, Davies passed away ahead of the release of The Witcher season two.
The cause of death is unknown, with neither Netflix nor the family releasing a statement.
Shows such as The Witcher employ an expansive crew behind the camera, with this series, in particular, being one of the biggest.
Produced in the UK, most of the crew have worked on productions that will be familiar to viewers in the country.
According to Davies’ IMDb profile, he worked on shows such as Parch, Gwaith/Cartref, Lark Rise to Candleford, and Belonging.
He also worked extensively in the Doctor Who franchise, helping create the first series when Christopher Eccleston was the iconic character.
Later, Davies moved on to work on the Captain Jack Harkness (played by John Barrowman) spin-off Torchwood.
It appears Davies stopped working back in 2016, following the production of the TV series Parch.

Will there be a third season of the Witcher?
For fans currently bingeing through the second season, their attention is already turning to season three.
Thankfully, Netflix confirmed the renewal of the third season back in September, with production expected to start immediately.
However, there could be another long wait for it, as it is not expected to premiere until mid-2023.
Of course, Netflix has not provided an official release date, so this could be subject to change.
Yet, The Witcher is one of the platform’s biggest series, requiring an enormous team to piece together the show.
It commands a massive budget, hiring hundreds of people to get each season complete as fast as possible.
Yet, season three is still in the writing phase, with the script still needing to be finalised.
Showrunner Lauren Schimdt Hissbach updated fans on Twitter, writing: “I will start celebrating all of the incredible @witchernetflix reviews… as soon as I finish polishing S3 scripts!
“December 17th can’t come soon enough: the launch of S2, AND the start of my holiday vacation!”
The Witcher seasons 1-2 are available to watch exclusively on Netflix.
