Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite spoke openly about struggling to find employment before becoming famous.

The baker who frequently appears on Channel 4's Steph's Packed Lunch revealed he was rejected because he spoke "too softly".

It comes after a recruiter shared "the most Gen Z" reply after a client failed to secure a job, leaving the internet speechless.

The viral social media clip from TikTok saw a rejected client respond with a meme saying.

While sharing his experience, Wigan-born John told Steph McGovern that he once failed to secure work after a week-long work experience project as recruiters were not happy with his voice.

Sharing the viral video on TikTok, creator @samantha_jane_ said: "Of course, in recruitment, you have to occasionally tell candidates they weren't successful in getting the job.

"This one candidate, who Hannah had done a round of interviews, she didn’t get the job so Hannah emailed her and told her she hadn't been successful.

"And instead of replying and being like, ‘OK, yeah, thanks for letting me know’ or whatever, this girl sends Hannah a meme, which is the most Gen Z thing I've seen."

The image that has since gone viral online is a painting of Pope Leo X by Fernando Botero with the caption "y tho" written on the masterpiece.
