Strictly Come Dancing 2021 is on the horizon and fans are keen to see which professional dancers will be partnered up with each celebrity contestant. It won’t be long until BBC viewers find out as the new series launches later this month. However, TV chef John Whaite has given a hint as to who he might be dancing with in the series, sharing his predictions on Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch.

On Tuesday’s show, John chatted to host Steph McGovern about his upcoming Strictly adventure.

The presenter asked: “So when do you find out who your partner is? And when do you actually start the training?”

“So I find out my partner tomorrow. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that, but I just have!” John exclaimed.

Steph laughed and remarked: “You’re doing a Dan Walker because he announced when the show was starting without anyone knowing.”

John replied: “I know. I texted him saying ‘Dan Strictly Leaks Walker’ I’ve called him.”

The TV chef went on to reveal how long it’ll be before the public finds out who is paired together on Strictly.

He continued: “So I find out tomorrow, and then the launch show is recorded and transmitted on the 18th of September. So, next Saturday.

“And that’s when it’ll be revealed to the public who I’m dancing with,” John explained.

Steph asked: “Are you going to be able to hold that information in tomorrow? Because they won’t want you telling anyone.”

“I have to. Like, even Paul said, ‘Don’t tell me’ because he’ll just tell his whole family,” John said, referring to his partner Paul Atkins.

“His family are like vultures they are texting every day saying ‘Who’s John dancing with? Who’s John dancing with?’

“But, to be honest with you there are four lads who I think are tall enough for me to dance with,” he revealed.

Keen to know more about John’s theory, Steph exclaimed: “Go on then!”

John replied: “So, there’s Graziano [Di Prima], Kai [Widdrington], Johannes [Radebe], and what’s the other one called? Aljaž [Škorjanec].

“They are the four I think who are tall enough for me. But, they might give me a shorter dancer and put him in heels,” he joked.

John is set to make history on Strictly Come Dancing this year as he will compete as part of the programme’s first all-male partnership.

He follows in the footsteps of boxer Nicola Adams who made history on the show last year.

Nicola was one half of Strictly’s first female same-sex dance pairing, alongside professional dancer Katya Jones.

When John was announced to be a contestant in the 2021 series, he took to Instagram to share his excitement with fans.

In a post, he wrote: “I’ve been wearing sequins, wigs and jazzy clothes since I was in the womb (winner of the best-dressed foetus award, 1989), but even that hasn’t prepared me for the uncontrollable excitement that I’m filled with when I say: I’m part of the 2021 @bbcstrictly line-up. Oh, and I’m going to be dancing with another bloke as the first all-male pairing.”

Strictly Come Dancing 2021 premieres on September 18 on BBC One.
