Simon McCoy and Kirsty Gallacher welcomed Lord Richard Dannatt onto Monday’s Great British Breakfast to discuss the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. The former head of the British army skewered GB News host McCoy after he criticised Afghan soldiers for failing to stop the Taliban from seizing territory. 

McCoy quipped: “At the first sigh of trouble we’ve seen the Afghan soldiers fleeing.”

“That’s not fair on them,” Dannatt hit back. “We’ve invested a lot of time and money while we were there.

“They had fought extremely well and taken a large number of casualties.”
