The Handmaid’s Tale fans unearth dark clue that June and Nick were doomed to split

THE Handmaid’s Tale fans have unearthed a dark clue that June and Nick were doomed to split.

The Hulu series saw the couple fall in love against the odds, with June (Elisabeth Moss) giving birth to their daughter Holly/Nicole in season two.

But in season three, the lovers were forced apart after June was sent to another Commander's home and Nick was promoted to a lower ranking Commander, before being sent to fight against the Rebels.

But one fan noticed Nick and June's romance could have been doomed all along based on the music used over their scenes in season three.

The track, called Offred – June's Gilead name – sounds similar to composer Adam Taylor's score called Panic Attack, which is used repeatedly during tense or shocking scenes in the show.

They wrote: "If this was their theme song, we should have known something was wrong."

They added: "This track is in every season I think–it's every time the stakes are raised and June has no idea how much s*** she just got herself into, which is honestly the reason I keep coming back.”

June was shot by a guard at the end of series three after helping dozens of children escape from Gilead to the safety of Canada, where her husband Luke is.

June was carried away by a number of other Handmaid's and while fans wonder how she will survive in the regime after her latest act of rebellion, some viewers think Nick will come to her rescue.

Meanwhile Max Minghella, who plays Nick, previously confirmed his return to season four and what fans can expect from his character and his relationship with June.

He said: "I think Nick's very in love with her, so I'm sure he's really hoping it works out.

"But she was also married to a wonderful person [Luke] who loves her very much and has a child with that person, so it's very complicated.”

Filming for season four of The Handmaid's Tale has currently been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
