HILARIOUS BBC3 mockumentary sitcom This Country follows cousins Kerry and Kurtan as they try to find themselves in a sleepy Cotswolds village.

The Bafta award-winning comedy centres around the Muclowe cousins and their families – but fans are desperate to know if the characters are related in real life. Here's everything you need to know…

Who is in the cast of This Country?

Main characters Kerry (Daisy Cooper) and Kurtan (Charlie Cooper) Muclowe are close cousins on the show but are actually real-life siblings.

Brother and sister duo Daisy and Charlie are the creators as well as the stars of the BBC3 comedy sitcom and they also found roles for a some other real-life family members too.

The siblings were born and raised in Cirencester, Gloucestershire and it was their upbringing in the town that inspired the cult series This Country.

The mockumentary sitcom was first broadcast in February 2017 and won two Baftas in 2018 for Best Scripted Comedy and Best Female Comedy Performance for Daisy.

Daisy May Cooper as Kerry

34-year-old writer and actress Daisy plays lead character Kerry and also voices her mum on the show (although we never see her on screen).

She landed her first big TV role as a young mother in ITV series Doc Martin but then returned to the West Country where she worked as a cleaner with younger brother Charlie (who plays Kurtan).

In 2014 she landed the role of PC Garvey in TV series The Wrong Mans and in the same year she pitched the pilot for This Country she wrote with her brother.

In 2019 Daisy starred as Peggotty in The Personal History of David Copperfield alongside Dev Patel, Hugh Laurie and Tilda Swinton.

Charlie Cooper as Kurtan

Younger brother of Daisy, 30-year-old Charlie co-wrote This Country and stars alongside his big sis in the BBC comedy as Lee 'Kurtan'.

Brought up in Cirencester, Gloucestershire, he and Daisy started making films with their mum's camcorder.

He dropped out of Exeter University to live with his sister in London who was at dram school RADA and they began writing together.

Charlie has also appeared in 2019 ITV crime series A Confession as Kevin Reape.

Paul Cooper as Martin Mucklowe

Daisy and Charlie’s real dad plays Kerry’s father and Kurtan’s uncle in the BBC series.

Trevor Cooper as Len Clifton

Daisy and Charlie’s real-life uncle Trevor plays Kerry and Kurtan’s town nemesis, Len.

Trevor’s real-life brother Paul plays Kerry’s dad in the show.

Ashley McGuire as Big Mandy Harris

Ashley McGuire plays scary Big Mandy and you may recognise her as a Death Eater from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

The actress and director has also starred in various other TV shows including Man Down, Miranda and Derek.

Mark Kempner as Terry Clarke

Mark plays the manager of a club house where Kurtan works behind the bar.

The 62-year-old actor appeared in a 2014 episode of Doctor Who and has been on TV in Peep Show, Holby City and EastEnders.

Holly Atkins as Sandra Prounty

In the show Holly plays Sandra – the long-suffering girlfriend of Martin Mucklowe (Kerry's father) and mother of Kerry's half brothers.

The 47-year-old actress has also starred in Call the Midwife, Casualty, Doctors and Witless.

Michael Sleggs as Slugs

Michael was a long-term friend of creators Daisy and Charlie and his character Slugs, was actually based on him.

Michael sadly passed away last July at the age of 33 due to heart failure.

Their friend tragically died just three weeks before they were due to begin filming the new series.

Paul Chahidi as Reverend Francis Seaton (The Vicar)

Actor Paul plays the cousin's unwavering mentor, local vicar Francis Seaton.

After years of successful roles in theatre, Chahidi has landed major parts on the big screen including The Death of Stalin, Disney's Christopher Robin and in TV series Good Omens alongside Jon Hamm, David Tennant and Michael Sheen.

This Country series three begins TONIGHT, February 17, 2020 on BBC One at 10.35pm.

The third and final series will run for six episodes.
