Co-host Phillip added: “It’s nice to have a bit of time off over the summer to catch up with friends and family and I love getting out in the garden and pouring a gin and tonic… But I love working so I never get holiday blues.

“With the NTAs, it’s always a big one because it’s a public vote so that’s an important one,” Phillip, who was recently seen holding back tears after winning a special recognition LGBTQ+ award, said. “There are no stuffy panels.

“The great thing about the NTAs is that it’s voted for by people who have been with us all the way throughout the pandemic and I think this year more than ever it’ll mean a lot to the team because it really was almost like a wartime spirit, that sort of hunkering down and a ‘we’ll be OK, we can get through this’ type of spirit.

“I think this year more than ever, it really would mean a lot to the team,” the presenter shared, as co-host Holly agreed with gusto.

“The NTA’s are such an important award for us as they are voted for by the viewers,” she expressed. “When we know viewers have taken time to vote for This Morning it's always such a boost for the whole team.

It really means the world to us and we are so grateful for every single vote.

“And I think this year actually, it'd mean even more like Phillip said, because it has been the most extraordinary year and everyone involved in the show worked twice as hard to ensure we could stay on air.

“It has been fantastic to have gained some new viewers during that time but trust me, we needed them for company just as much as they were needing us during the lockdowns too,” the star added.

While fans are excited to Phil and Holly's return, many are also lamenting not seeing Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on screens anymore.
