What you didn’t know about the Bachelor’s Madison Prewett

Is anyone else missing the drama of Peter Weber’s season on The Bachelor? It seems like nothing else on TV can compete lately with that level of surprise and conflict (well, maybe Tiger King). And even after the season is long over, the drama doesn’t seem to stop. We’ve got evidence that Peter was in Chicago with Kelly Flanagan not staying six feet apart!! Then there were rumors from Reality Steve on Twitter that Victoria Fuller is quarantining with Chris Soules in Iowa. Yup. Take a minute for that to sink in.

Meanwhile, it would appear that Hannah Ann Sluss, who was engaged to Peter for a hot minute and then got dumped on air, is dating someone new. Good for her! The model spoke on the podcast Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe and said she’s got a new “mystery man” who has nothing to do with Bachelor Nation. She called it a “nice little quarantine fling.”

But throughout Peter’s season, there was one woman who seemed to transcend the drama: Madison Prewett. I don’t know about you, but I legit thought that Madison and Peter would ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after. But that ended up being sooo not the case, thanks, in part, to some major drama between Madison and Peter’s mom, Barbara Weber.

Now that some of the drama has subsided, let’s take a minute to look at everything we know about Madison Prewett.

Madison Prewett had been on TV before 'The Bachelor'

So here’s the backstory. Peter Weber appeared on Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, where he made it far enough to jazz her in a windmill (4 times!) but not enough to earn her heart, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Bam! Peter became the next bachelor and the world got to meet Madison Prewett.

According to her ABC bio, Madison, who was 23 during Peter’s season, is from Auburn, Alabama and works as a foster parent recruiter. From the get-go, Madison was clear that faith was a huge part of her life. Her bio says that Madison is “looking for a man who will prioritize faith and family before everything else. She is hoping to find someone who shares the same religious values that she and her family have. He also MUST want children and know how to have fun.”

Madison added that her “dream is to travel the world and spread love through missionary work.” With Peter working as a pilot, the travelling part certainly made sense! She also added that if she were stranded on an island and could only bring one book, it would be the Bible. So it was clear from the beginning that faith was a huge deal to Madi.

But Madi had actually been on TV once before. In April 2019, she appeared on The Price is Right and won $8,000. So our girl is no stranger to a camera.

Madison Prewett struggled to open up about sexuality with Peter Weber

Early on in his season, Peter Weber took Madison Prewett on a one-on-one date where she joined him at his family’s home. His parents, Barbara and Peter Sr. Weber, renewed their vows, according to Us Weekly. It honestly seemed like Madi and Peter might as well just get married then because Barb said to her: “I have to admit, [Peter] seems like he’s in awe of you and that makes me happy because I really like you.” Tragically, that amicability between Barb and Madi didn’t last. But the obvious connection between Madi and Peter made fans seriously believe that they would end up together.

It wasn’t until hometown visits that things got a little worrisome. Madi brought Peter to Auburn, Alabama, to meet her family and it was a successful visit, with lots of basketball-themed activities since Madi’s dad is a coach at Auburn University. On the visit, Madi’s mother privately asked her if Peter knew about her decision to remain a virgin until she got married, according to a later article by Us Weekly. Madi had vaguely told Peter about the importance of her faith but she hadn’t explicitly told him her values, especially in terms of sexuality.

Madison Prewett and Peter Weber: the danger of sexpectations

While it was clear that faith was a huge deal to Madison Prewett, it wasn’t so clear to Peter Weber how faith impacted her life and sexuality. After hometown visits, Madison flew to Australia to join the last two contestants: Hannah Ann Sluss and Victoria Fuller. It was shortly before the fantasy suite dates began, according to Us Weekly, when Madi told Peter that she would find it really difficult to continue dating him if he slept with anyone else.

When Peter admitted that he had been “intimate” with the others, Madi pulled herself out of the season and returned to the U.S. After Peter eliminated Victoria, Hannah Ann was the only woman left and so he proposed to her. But back in the States, Peter broke off the engagement with Hannah Ann, according to Us Weekly. Chris Harrison flew out to see Madison and told her Peter was single. Next thing we all knew, Madi was out in Los Angeles with Peter.

On March 10, 2020, Madi and Peter appeared together for the live reunion but Barbara Weber, Peter’s mom, brought some serious drama to the show, claiming that they would never make it as a couple. Sure enough, on March 13, both Peter and Madi announced their breakups on Instagram.

Is Madison Prewett really as nice as she seems on TV?

In the aftermath of such an intense season of The Bachelor, the drama still continued. Madison Prewett seemed like such a sympathetic, likable person. However, in a shocking turn of events, Peter Weber’s younger brother, Jack Weber, got active on social media and threw some serious shade at Madi. No doubt Jack was also trying to defend his mom, Barbara Weber, after her snarky comments on The Bachelor finale, which made fans angry with her.

According to People, Jack spoke with fans who pointed out that reality TV edits scenes to show what they want. Jack responded to this, “Dude facts.” He added: “Half these people don’t even have the slightest clue as to how far Madi is from what the TV shows.”

Despite Jack’s shade, Madi seems to be thriving now. She has 1.9 million followers on Instagram and hung out with Selena Gomez on March 12 according to Glamour.

On April 21, Madi spoke to Kaitlyn Bristowe on her podcast Off the Vine saying she was confused to see Peter in Chicago with Kelley Flanagan, since Peter texted Madi two days saying he missed her. But Madi let it go and sent them good vibes saying, “He’s not the one for me, so I wish him all the best.”
