Money Heist will soon be returning to Netflix for one final season. The show, which has been running for four seasons now, has been confirmed to be coming to an end after season five. But when will season five of Money Heist drop?

When does Money Heist season 5 come out?

Money Heist season five will premiere on Netflix on September 3, 2021 – but it will be split into two parts.

Part two of season five will drop on December 3, 2021, meaning fans will have a little bit longer to see their favourite criminals.

The new season will be made up to 10 episodes, with the first five episodes airing on September 3.

Fans were sad to hear season five will be the last season for the series, with Netflix wrapping the crime-drama show for the last time.

The plot for season five remains unknown, with Netflix only dropping a teaser trailer for the series.

The trailer shows the team walking in slow motion through a corridor, all looking ready to fight.

It doesn’t reveal much, only confirming the main cast will return again including The Professor (played by Alvaro Morte), Tokio (Ursula Corbero), Raquel Murillo (Itziar Utuno) and Rio (Miguel Herran).

Rounding out the main cast returning is Denver (Jaime Lorente), Monica Gaztambide (Esther Acebo)) and Arturo Roman (Enrique Arce).

The two parts of season five will be titled Season five: Volume One and Season Five: Volume Two.

Season four of the show was similarly split into two parts, so fans will be more prepared for the extra-long wait until the finale this time around.

Production on the series has suffered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, causing seasons four and five to contend with major delays during filming.

However, season five is now well on track to reach its release dates, meaning fans have nothing to worry about this time around.

Series creator Alex Pina released a statement explaining the situation with filming season five.

He said: “When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt that we had to change what was expected from the ten-episode season and used every tool we could to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself.”

He added: “We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes.

“In volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure.”

Season five is set to be the most explosive season yet, with the fate of all the characters hanging in the balance.

Netflix isn’t letting anything slip, however, giving fans an agonising wait for the final time.

Fans have been taking to the comments of the season five trailer ahead of its launch, with many of them expressing their love for the show.

One fan said: “If Arturo doesn’t die this season I’m going to Spain to do it myself.”

Another fan added: “Theory: Everybody dies but Tokyo who tells us the story survived.”

A third fan said: “This is going to be great! We’re in the endgame now…”

Money Heist is available to watch exclusively on Netflix.
