Where has Moira been in Emmerdale? Her unexpected return has shocked the village

MOIRA Dingle made one hell of a return last night as she saved Matty and Amy from a bunch of livestock thieves by threatening them with her shotgun in Emmerdale.

The spurned lover had been spending some time away from the village after she descended into alcoholism.

When did Moira return to the village in Emmerdale?

Moira returned to the soap last night to save the day as Matty and Amy found themselves cornered by livestock thieves.

Matty had ignored all warnings from Cain about the thieves operating in the area.

He realised a little too late that he was in danger as the thieves surrounded him and Amy in the woodland.

Just as it looked like they were in for it, Moira popped out from beneath the trees – shotgun in hand – and threatened the thieves.

Fans were thrilled by Moira's dramatic return.

One fan tweeted: "Tonight’s Moira, is the Moira I love to see #emmerdale."

Another added: "Absolutely fantastic to see Moira back on our screens again…she ain’t taking no shit from no one."

Why did Moira leave the village in Emmerdale?

Emmerdale fans will know that Moira announced last month that she'd be heading to Nana Barton's to get a breath of fresh air from the village and sort her life out.

Moira was left in tatters after it emerged her lover Nate was only sleeping with her to get revenge on his dad Cain – who was quick to dump Moira after the truth came out.

Cain was quick to twist the knife in when he slept with Kerry Wyatt right under Moira's nose just to get his revenge.

She then had a festive shocker when she was forced to spend Christmas alone.

Moira was dealt another blow when Pete quit the farm to join Nate at Wylie's farm.

Viewers have watched her spiral for months, but when she passed out drunk and left her young son screaming in pain and danger last month, she finally realised she needed help.

Will Moira and Cain get back together in Emmerdale?

It's not yet clear whether Moira and Cain will put their differences aside and reunite on the ITV soap.

But things aren't looking great for the couple as Cain is set to serve Moira with divorce papers

later this week.

Cain will discover his estranged wife is back in the village, but instead of a happy reunion, he presents her with the papers.

Cain hasn’t got over the fact that his wife betrayed him by sleeping with another man – who turned out to be his son.

Viewers have watched him go on the warpath against Moira and Nate in the past few months, insisting on a divorce from Moira.

But when Cain calls Moira his missus next week, Nate suggests he still has feelings for her.

Cain denies that he still loves her, but his actions speak louder than his words when he protects Moira from the livestock thieves and ends up shooting a shadowy figure he thinks is about to attack her in next week's episodes.

Will Moira convince Cain to give her another chance?

Fans are certain that the star-cross lovers will reunite, and flocked to Twitter to express their wishes for the couple to get back together.
