Who is Holliday Grainger? The Capture actress and star of Cinderella and The Borgias

HOLLIDAY Grainger has become a force on screen and stage thanks to roles on The Borgais, Strike and The Riot Club.

As she returns to screens in BBC's new crime drama The Capture, we take a look at the actress' flourishing career.

What is Holliday Grainer's background?

Holliday was born and raised in Didsbury, Manchester, and her first acting role was at six years old in the BBC comedy drama series All Quiet on the Preston Front.

She then had TV roles in Casualty, Doctors, Dalziel and Pascoe, Where the Heart Is, Waterloo Road and Merlin as her career began to blossom.

Holliday also jumped into film pretty quickly with her first role in 1997's The Missing Postman.

But the 31-year-old's since gone on to play parts in more notable films such as Bel Ami, The Riot Club, Cinderella, The Finest Hours and My Cousin Rachel – as well as starring in West End productions.

When does The Capture start and who does Holliday play?

The six-part thriller begins TONIGHT (September 3, 2019) on BBC One from 9pm to 10pm.

It is set London in a world of misinformation, fake news and the extraordinary technological capabilities of the intelligence services.

In this post-truth era the criminal justice relies heavily on video evidence but can we always trust what we see in the form of CCTV surveillance and facial recognition software?

The show follows DI Rachel Carey (played by Holliday) investigating the mysterious case of Shaun Emery’s (Callum Turner) conviction for a murder in Afghanistan.

All six episodes will be available to watch on the BBC iPlayer app once it has aired on television.

Who did Holliday Grainger play in Strike: Career of Evil?

Strike: Career of Evil is a two-part mystery based on JK Rowling's book and adapted to the screen by Tom Edge.

The show follow the cases undertaken by private investigator Cormoran Strike (Tom Burke) and his assistant and secretary, Robin Ellacott (played by Holliday).

Cormoran is in his late thirties, the illegitimate son of a former rock star and a former Special Investigation Branch investigator who was discharged from the army after losing half his leg in a bomb attack in Afghanistan.

He's now set up shop in Denmark Street and is running a small private detective agency, although not getting that much work until the events of the first book bring him recognition.

Cormoran takes on Robin as a temp but she impresses him and ends up working for him full-time.

Does Holliday Grainger have social media?

No, she doesn't. The actress does have a Twitter account but it has been inactive since 2012.

And she does not have an Instagram account so the actress is able to keep her private life pretty, erm, private.

While she has been romantically linked to actor Harry Treadway in the past after the pair attended a Burberry fashion show together in 2016 but fans aren't sure what their relationship status is at the moment because they are never seen together.
