A BBC newsman compared a photo of five women from the Lionesses’ World Cup line-up to his bedroom in a pre-match report ahead of the semi-final tonight.
Harry Gration, a presenter for Look North, turned to a studio display featuring players including Millie Bright and Lucy Staniforth before saying ‘this is a bit like my bedroom at home’.
Quickly realising how his comment could be interpreted, he joked: ‘Not with the ladies, I hasten to add, but the colours are the same.’
Around 10million people are set to tune in to tonight’s match against the USA team tonight – making it the most viewed TV event of the year so far in the UK.
