Bill Cosby has called himself an ‘educator’ and a ‘political prisoner’

Disgraced entertainer Bill Cosby has called himself an ‘educator’ and a ‘political prisoner’ in a series of Thanksgiving tweets.

Despite serving a prison term, Cosby, or someone on his behalf, took to Twitter do decry the mainstream US press and urge his followers to support black media outlets.

In the first message on Thursday, the remorseless comedian, 82, said: ‘Happy Thanksgiving & be thankful for the Native Americans. Yours truly, The Educator & The Political Prisoner.’

He then went on to include a series of hashtags, including #BillCosbyTheEducator, #BillCosbyThePoliticalPrisoner and #FarFromFinished, the name of one of his concert specials.

He also criticized what he labeled ‘fake news’ including major outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post.

He said: ‘It’s #BlackFriday, so let’s spend our dollars with #BlackPressUSA & all Black media outlets that propel the truth and the facts, not Fake News.

‘The truth is in the pudding, this week Black Press USA proved its power and relevance to the world.’

Cosby even called out specific publications to his 3.5million followers.

He said: ‘No longer should we succumb to the fear of many mainstream media outlets like Associated Press, CNN, NBC, New York Times, Washington Post & Radar Online just to name a few. Black Friday+Black People = BlackPressUSA.’

The prisoner linked to an article on the Black Press USA’s website which is the first exclusive interview he has granted since beginning his sentence at a maximum security prison in Pennsylvania.

In the interview, he called the jurors who convicted him ‘imposters’ and said he was in prison as the result of a ‘set-up’.

Cosby is shown being escorted out of the Montgomery County Courthouse to be taken to prison in September 2018

The 82-year-old comedian was sentenced to between three and 10 years in prison last September for drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004.

He expects to serve the full length of the sentence.

She one of dozens of alleged victims but hers was the only one which was criminally prosecuted.

Cosby has always denied the allegations against him. His wife, Camille, is also standing by him.

While dozens of women said they had been abused by Cosby, Pennsylvania’s statute of limitations stopped them from being able to see their claims prosecuted.

Many have filed civil lawsuits instead.
