British 15-year-old boy on school exchange dies after falling from seventh floor of Spanish apartment block

  • The youngster fell to his death from the bathroom window at the block  
  • Authorities are treating the incident which involves the child as an accident
  • The local education chief said he ‘deeply regretted’ what had happened  

A British teenager has died after falling from a seventh-floor bathroom at an apartment block in the southern Spanish city of Cordoba.

The 15-year-old is understood to have been on a school exchange.

Local authorities say they are treating the incident as a tragic accident and say police are not investigating it as a crime at this stage.

The youngster fell to his death from the bathroom window at the block around 11.25pm last night.

Local news agencies reported that the boy had been trying to fix a window when he died. 

The apartment is situated on a street called Calle Periodista Quesada Chacon.

In a statement local education chief Inmaculada Troncoso said: ‘We deeply regret what has happened.

‘We are offering support to the school where the boy was as well as his family.’
