This is the terrifying moment an escaped buffalo rams a woman off her scooter before injuring seven others in a rampage through a Chinese city.

The footage of the animal on the loose was captured in Yulin city in Guangxi province, China, on November 9. 

Seven people were injured during the terrifying rampage before police surrounded the buffalo and shot it dead.

The video shows a woman waiting on her moped at a junction when the rampaging buffalo suddenly appears.

In the dashcam footage, she is butted from her scooter and her helmet comes flying off, before she cowers on the ground in front of shocked motorists and a traffic officer.

The animal then runs away down the road in front of her as terrified locals flee the area. 

In another clip, the buffalo runs into a shop on the side of a road and appears to stay for a while before running out. 

Police said that the buffalo had broken free from a cart while food was being unloaded at a nearby stall.

The Special Patrol Detachment of the Traffic Police of Yuzhou said they rushed to the scene before surrounding the buffalo with vehicles and opening fire. 

It was then killed by gunshot. 

The animal then runs away down the road in front of her as terrified locals flee the area

Officers said that seven people were taken to the hospital and their injuries were not life-threatening.

The owner of the cattle and the driver who transported the buffalo have been contacted by the police. 

The incident is under further investigation and processing.
