Drayton Manor theme park to be prosecuted over death of girl, 11, who fell out of water rapids

DRAYTON Manor is to be prosecuted over the death of an 11-year-old girl, who fell out of water rapids at the theme park.

Post-mortem results published just over a week after her death found that the schoolgirl was killed by "blunt force chest trauma".

The park in Tamworth, Staffs., now faces a charge under Section 3 of the Health and Safety at Work act.

A statement said: "A Health and Safety Executive prosecution is being brought following the death of an 11-year-old girl at Drayton Manor theme park.

"On 9 May 2017, Evha Jannath died after falling from the park's Splash Canyon water ride."

Criminal proceedings have not yet commenced, because an inquest into Evha's death, due to be heard in November, needs to take place first.
