ONE person has been rushed to hospital as firefights tackle a huge blaze at a factory.

The fire broke out on an industrial estate in North Wales at around 7.50am today, with smoke seen billowing out of the site and local residents told to keep windows and doors shut.

An air ambulance touched down and left the scene carrying one person to the nearby Wrexham Maelor Hospital for treatment.

Emergency services confirmed that the fire is now under control, but said they will remain at the scene.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at approximately 7:50am this morning to reports of a fire on Antelope Industrial Estate in Mold.

"We deployed an emergency ambulance and were supported by Wales Air Ambulance and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service.
