Football fan fighting for life after suffering serious head injury in QPR vs Luton Town 'disorder'

A FOOTBALL fan is fighting for life after suffering serious head injuries following last night's QPR v Luton Town game.

Police covering the Championship match discovered the injured man in Shepherd's Bush, West London, at around 9.50pm.

He was rushed to hospital with a serious head injury and remains in a life-threatening condition.

His family have been informed and there have been no arrests.

The Met believe the man was assaulted but are not sure whether he was caught up in "disorder" after the game.

Queens Park Rangers, who won last night's game 2-0, and Luton Town have a longstanding rivalry.

Supporters complained about bottles being chucked at rival fans as they left Loftus Road.

One tweeted: "If I'd known the rivalry between QPR and Luton was that intense I would not have gone last night.

"Unbelievable scenes after the game. Shocking stuff. Like being in an 80s football hooliganism film."

Police are now appealing for anyone who saw any disorder or know how the man was injured to come forward.

Detective Constable Arrash Faghihi said: "This man sustained a serious head injury, and it is vital that we make contact with witnesses quickly.

"The area was extremely busy after the match and there will undoubtedly be many people with information that will assist police. I need them to get in touch as detectives work to build a complete picture of what happened on Friday night."

Anyone with information can call police on 101, ref 7888/19nov.
