Four men charged after alleged ‘balaclava’ abduction in Manly
Four men have been charged after allegedly trying to abduct a man in broad daylight on Sydney’s northern beaches on Sunday morning in an incident that led to a dramatic rescue by police.
Police were called to Oyama Avenue in Manly on Sunday after residents in the area reported an assault.
Neighbours told police a man was attacked by a group of men wearing balaclavas before being bundled into a Toyota Hilux which had driven away.
Police tried to stop the car on Warringah Road at Forestville, but the driver continued, initiating a police pursuit.
As a result, police deployed road spikes on Starkey Street at Forestville, forcing the vehicle to stop.
Five men were found in the ute. One of the men had injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been released.

A 24-year-old man from Sefton, a 24-year-old man from Auburn, a 25-year-old man from Colebee and a 19-year-old man from Doonside have since been charged with five offences each.
They were charged with kidnapping, participating or contributing to criminal group activity, driving a car without the consent of the owner, disguising face with the intent of committing an indictable offence and affray.
The Sefton man was handed two extra charges – reckless driving and using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.
All have been refused bail and will appear in Manly Local Court on Monday.
