KFC is selling fried chicken sandwiched between two glazed donuts and fast food fans are going wild

KFC is now serving fried chicken sandwiched between two glazed donuts – and adventurous fast food fans are going wild over the treats.

The chain threw the rulebook out of the window with its new ‘Chicken and Donuts’ menu, which is available for a limited time at 40 US locations.

Customers have two options, with the safe bet being a chicken and donut basket meal for $5.49, which includes chicken tenders or bone-chicken plus a donut.

The far more exciting option is the chicken sandwich for $5.99, featuring a fried chicken patty between two donut buns.

You can make this a combo meal for $8.

KFC said customers can also add a donut – served hot – to any meal for $1.

The sweet and salty snack will only be available for a limited time at select locations.

Fans will be able to test out the calorie-laden combo at locations in Norfolk/Richmond, Virginia and Pittsburgh.

If the test goes well, the new sandwich could be sold across the whole of the US.

“Consumers are increasingly seeking novel, crave-able flavor combinations that give them the best of both sweet and savory worlds to create a unique taste experience,” KFC said in a statement.

“Through this test market, KFC is evaluating consumer appetite for bringing this growing food trend to its customers on a national scale.”

The fried-chicken donut creation is already dividing people on social media.

Comedian Sarah Cooper tweeted: “This looks disgusting when can I try it.”

Connor O'Brien said: “This chicken sandwich obsession has gone too far.”

Blair Guild tweeted: “KFC wants us to die so badly.”
