Libertines rocker Pete Doherty arrested for second time in 48 hours after ‘drunken fight’ in Paris – The Sun

PETE Doherty was arrested yesterday for a second time in 48 hours after a "drunk fight" in Paris, it has been reported.

The Libertines Rocker was out celebrating his release from a police cell while wearing his pyjamas after he was held for a cocaine abuse.

The 40-year-old was spotted throwing punches at a 19-year-old lad in the upmarket Saint-Germain-des-Pres district of the French capital early Sunday morning.

Arash Derambarsh, his lawyer, told the Parisian news outlet that Doherty went home and took sleeping pills but then went out again wearing his pyjamas.

Mr Derambarsh said he wanted to "go and celebrate his liberation in a bar near him,", adding "he drank and people made him drink".

As the evening wore on, Pete got into a fight with a man and they "quickly came to blows".

It was the unnamed teenager who filed a complaint to police, saying he was injured in a "drunken brawl".

Now Pete faces fresh charges for "violence by a person in a state of drunkenness".

An investigating source said: "Before being questioned by police, Doherty was put somewhere where he could sober up."

PARIS ARREST

Pete was nabbed by police in a seedy Paris district for allegedly buying cocaine in the street at 3am on Friday.

In Pigalle, Pete was arrested during an alleged street drug deal witnessed by police.

Under a fast track procedure, he was provisionally fined the equivalent of £4,300 for using a banned drug – a sentence which is yet to be approved by a judge.

Pete, the ex-boyfriend of supermodel Kate Moss, has previous convictions for drug offences, and also for theft and driving without a licence.

In the past, Pete has pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine, heroin, cannabis and ketamine.

In May 2011 he was sentenced to six months in jail for cocaine possession in the UK.

Since moving to Margate, Kent, in 2017 Pete has been arrested by the police on a number of occasions.

In January this year the Don’t Look Back Into The Sun singer was held for 48 hours and questioned. But, charges of drug possession and driving related offences were later dropped.

Cocaine is a banned drug in France, where possession for personal use is punishable with a prison sentence of up to a year, plus a fine.

This maximum sentence can be increased if there are aggravating factors, such as someone in possession endangering other people.

The Pigalle area of Paris is known for its illegal trade in street drugs, where two grams of cocaine can be bought for the equivalent of about £250.
