Man, 33, 'pretended to be a taxi driver and drove woman to his flat before allegedly raping her', court hears

A MAN pretended to be a taxi driver and drove a woman to his flat before allegedly raping her, a court heard.

Ernesto Lusadisu, 33, has been accused of sexually assaulting the woman – who is in her 20s – in the lift and then raping her in his apartment in Manchester.

Lusadisu denied rape during his appearance at Manchester Crown Court yesterday.

The complainant – who had met Lusadisu hours earlier – says she asked him to use a condom in the hope of buying some time in the early hours of the morningon January 20, 2018, the court heard.

When he went to his car to fetch one, she allegedly fled from the flat and banged on a neighbour’s door to raise the alarm.

The defendant was arrested later that morning.

On the night of January 19, Lusadisu drove home via the Northern Quarter where he bought some chicken which he ate in his car, he said.

He claimed he saw the woman from his car and she seemed "fine" and didn’t appear drunk.

When asked why he picked her out he said: "There was no special reason. I saw her, I just find attractive. I just want to meet and talk."

He added: "I could tell that she had a drink but not in the way where she can’t remember.

"She knew what she was doing."

CCTV footage shows Lusadisu talking to the woman for 40 seconds, during which time he claims she agreed to go to his place for a drink before he drove her home.

The woman said he told her he was a taxi driver.

Lusadisu said he did not lie and insisted the woman "knew what was happening".

He told the jury that the complainant agreed to be driven back to his flat where they had consensual sex.

The trial continues.
