Man arrested for hacking his own mum to death with a sword after police found her hand poking out a dustbin – The Sun

A MENTALLY ILL man has been arrested after his mum was hacked to death with a SWORD and cops found her hand hanging out of a bin.

David Krystyniak, 47, from Park Ridge, Illinois, was held on a first-degree murder charge on Sunday over the death of his mother Judith, 74.

The suspect, who has a history of mental illness, later admitted to killing the pensioner with a two-foot sword, the New York Post reports.

According to ABC7 , police believe Krystyniak intended to put his mother's remains out with the rubbish for collection.

A cop and a social worker discovered Judith’s body stuffed inside the bin on Monday after checking on the home that she had shared with her son for decades, Police Chief Frank J. Kaminski said.

The pair drove by the Krystyniak home earlier that morning and noticed debris strewn about the driveway that seemed out of place, police said.

David Krystyniak was already known to local authorities because of his mental illness.

When the officer and social worker spoke to the suspect, he told them his mother was inside sleeping and invited the pair into the property.

After checking the rooms of the house, the officer then noticed a rubbish bin in the living room with a bloody hand hanging from it, Kaminski said.

Inside, the cop and social worker found Judith’s body with multiple stab wounds in her chest, he said.

Officers then found a two-foot-long sword in the house and arrested Krystyniak who later admitted to stabbing his mother, it has been reported.

“It’s not clear what triggered this tragic and sad event,” Kaminski said, noting that investigators believe the stabbing happened on Sunday.

Despite having received calls about Krystyniak “doing erratic things", police had no knowledge of domestic problems in the past, Kaminski said.

Krystyniak’s next court appearance is scheduled for August 14, the Sun-Times reported.
