A murdered boy must himself report a fake profile created by ghouls trolling his death before Instagram will remove it, his family were told.

Breck Bednar, 14, was killed after being lured to the home of Lewis Daynes, 18, who stabbed him in a sexually or sadistically-motivated attack in February 2014.

Depraved trolls created an Instagram account, which had more than 50 followers, mocking the boy.

The mocking biography said: ‘I am a 14-year-old gamer that owns a $2million Bitcoin company although I am currently decreased.’

His furious family slammed Instagram after the page was found by Breck’s 17-year-old sister leaving her ‘desperately upset’, as reported by The Telegraph.

Breck’s mother Lorin LaFave said: ‘She [her daughter] met me at the train station…and the first thing she said was, “mum I have to show you this,” and she was desperately upset.

‘I was just shocked, as I can’t imagine creating profiles of dead people is normal.

‘It is shocking, what people use social media platforms for.’

When Breck’s sister complained she was told by the social media firm the person who was being impersonated had to make the complaint.

Instagram says it has a separate procedure for deceased relatives.

Daynes lured 14-year-old Breck to his flat in Greys, Essex, and launched a ‘sexually or sadistically motivated’ knife attack in February 2014.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard they had met through an internet forum where they talked about their shared obsession with video games, some violent. Daynes slowly turned Breck against his family, school and even his Christian faith.

Daynes was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Instagram declined to comment to the newspaper, but took the page down after being contacted.
