Postal worker saves Christmas gifts after mail truck catches fire

A quick-thinking postal worker saved a number of Christmas gifts from the back of his burning mail truck in Kansas on Sunday, a report said.

The USPS truck caught fire just before noon on a road in Osawatomie, destroying the front half of the vehicle, Osawatomie Fire Chief Brian Love told ABC News.

A photo from the scene, posted to the fire department’s Facebook page, shows the charred front end of the mail truck with the battered engine exposed.

Another picture shows a number of packages lined up on the side of the street — a safe distance from the smoldering vehicle.

Nobody was injured in the fire, which started in the engine, Love told the outlet.

Another mail truck was dispatched to collect and deliver the gifts, the report said.
