Teen walked for 6 hours to find help after mother was killed in Mexico massacre

A 13-year-boy hid his younger siblings and walked for six hours in search of help — after his mother was killed before his eyes in the deadly cartel shootout that claimed the lives of nine US citizens in northern Mexico this week, a relative said.

Devin Blake Langford was in his mother Dawna Langford’s Suburban Monday — along with eight other siblings — when the shots rang out.

Dawna was killed, along with two of the children, 11-year-old Trevor and 2-year-old Rogan.

“After witnessing his mother and brothers being shot dead, Dawna’s son Devin hid his 6 other siblings in the bushes and covered them with branches to keep them safe while he went for help,” relative Kendra Lee Miller posted to Facebook.

When he took too long to return, his 9-year-old sister McKenzie left the remaining five to try to find help on her own.

Devin returned at 5:30 p.m. — six hours after the massacre. But it wasn’t until around 9:30 p.m. that McKenzie was discovered, following an extensive search by relatives and Mexican soldiers.

Five of the siblings, who were injured, were taken to a local hospital until their father, David Langford, arrived from Tucson, Arizona, and accompanied them on a helicopter to be treated in the US, Miller wrote.

Devin, his brother Jake and 7-month-old Faith Marie Johnson — who was found in a car seat that her now-deceased mother Christina Marie Langford Johnson put on the floor in a heroic act to protect her — remained in the care of their aunts and grandmas in LaMora, according to Miller.

Another relative, Tiffany Langford, shared the same account on her Facebook page.

Three women, 8-month-old twins and four other children, were killed in the shooting rampage.

It wasn’t clear whether the doomed group — all dual US-Mexican citizens and part of a Mormon community that settled in Mexico decades ago to pursue polygamy — were targeted because of their past skirmishes with the ever-encroaching cartels or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

One suspect has been arrested in connection to the shootout.
