Tradie brings gecko back to life after it almost drowned in his beer

Incredible moment tradie called ‘Slab’ brings gecko back to life by performing CPR on the tiny lizard after it almost drowned in his beer

  • He thought staff had put the lizard in his drink as a prank but found out otherwise
  • The tradie immediately leapt into action and began to perform CPR on the gecko

A tradie has brought a lizard back to life after he found the reptile in his beer.

A man, nicknamed Slab, had a drink with mates at The Amble Inn in Corindi Beach, on the New South Wales north coast, on Tuesday.

When he went to take a sip of his beer after having a cigarette outside he found a gecko in it.

Slab thought the staff were playing a prank on him took the beer back to the bar to show them but they assured him the lizard had fallen in by mistake.

When he realised that was not the case he brought the beer back to the table and fished the gecko out. 

At first it seemed as though the gecko had drowned but Slab was determined to give the reptile had a second change at life and started performing CPR.

Footage showed Slab performing chest compressions with a single index finger.

The tradie then picked the lizard up and blew into its mouth as his friends cheered him on. 

‘Is he coming good,’ one on-looker eagerly asked.

Slab then put the lizard into the palm of his hand where it began to stir. 

‘Oh my god, he’s alive! Yes,’ one person cheered, as several others burst into surprised fits of giggles. 

Slab was amazed at his lifesaving efforts as the gecko crawled up his arm to rest in the crevice of his elbow.

‘Look at this,’ he shouted, pointed to the gecko.

‘I saved his life! F***!’

Immediately the pair became the best of friends with the gecko crawling over Slab’s shirt for the rest of the evening before they left the pub.
