Hitler's lover Eva Braun's silk KNICKERS expected to fetch £800 in auction

SILK knickers worn by Adolf Hitler's mistress Eva Braun are expected to fetch £800 at auction.

The white undies have Braun's monogrammed initials embroidered on the front and come from an esteemed collector of World War Two memorabilia.

A label states they were knitted in Bavaria in 1944 and they also feature six decorative lace panels.

The racy underwear is now going under the hammer with Humbert & Ellis Auctioneers of Towcester, Northants, with a pre-sale estimate of £800.

Braun's white lace nightie which carries her personal monogram and shows significant signs of ageing is also up for grabs.

Jonathan Humbert, owner of the auction house, said: "These are possibly the most unusual items I have ever offered for sale in one of our international militaria auctions.

"They are intensely private and personal ordinary items ties and yet will undoubtedly be of global interest.

"Whilst there is no substantial provenance with these items – and we wouldn't expect there to be – the foxing and discolouration is commensurate with age and they both bear Eva Braun's personal monogram.

"They also hail from one of Europe's most significant private collections of World War Two memorabilia having been in private ownership for over half a century."

Eva Braun met Hitler in 1929 when she was 17 and he was 40, and became his lover.

By 1936 she was part of his household, but did not attend official events with him.

In early April 1945 when the war was lost she travelled to be with Hitler and they married shortly before they both committed suicide, she by cyanide and he by a gunshot to the head.

The sale takes place on September 19.
