EastEnders fans spot blunder as Lucy Beale’s ghost looks like ‘a middle-aged woman’ – The Sun
EASTENDERS viewers were left more perplexed than petrified as Lucy Beale's ghost returned to Walford.
Fans of the BBC One soap called out the blunder as the character, who was murdered in a huge whodunnit storyline in 2014, made a comeback in scenes featuring Kathy Beale.
While delighted as the character, originally played by Hetti Bywater, returned, many took aim at the casting of a "middle aged" actress to replace the teenager.
One tweeted: "When you're happy cause Lucy Beale is back but they use some middle age woman to play her ghost."
A second put: "Erm why the eff do Bobby's visions of Lucy Beale look like a school governess in her 50s."
A third commented: "The ghost of Lucy Beale is really creepy."
One then added: "This casting could’ve been done SO much better. my baby Lucy Beale you’ve been done so dirty."
Another disagreed and backed the show, writing: "Lucy beale ghost may be ugly and old but it’s STILL lucy beale and I won’t accept any of this slander."
Lucy made an eerie return to Walford as she appeared at the site where brother Bobby murdered her on Walford Common.
Back in 2014 his mum, Jane Beale, helped him hide the body and convinced her son he had nothing to do with her killing.
Last night, viewers watched as Bobby struggled to cope but his full trauma wasn't revealed until the last minute.
He said: "I shouldn't keep thinking about that night but I try and remember all the good times but I can't.
"It's all blocked. I know I'm pushing everyone away and I'm trying to deal with it the best I can.
"I never wanted to come back here. I tried to stay away. This isn't my home, it can't be. Is this what I deserve?
"Every time I open my eyes, every time I come in here I see you. I see you all the time. Are you always going to be here?"
The camera then panned back and revealed Lucy standing in the spot where she was killed by her younger brother five years earlier.
