CHELSEA began a huge week in the worst possible fashion as they suffered a 1-0 loss at home to Valencia.

MAN UTD legend Gary Neville has backed Liverpool to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
He told Sky Sports: “I mentioned the Champions League with Liverpool last season and got it wrong in the sense that I didn’t think Liverpool could compete in two competitions right to the very end and got it horribly wrong.
“I still think Liverpool need to win a Premier League title, it’s absolutely essential that they do that. Particularly with this team that they’ve got now.
“I don’t know any team that can handle that front three, they are absolutely magnificent.
“From a Chelsea point of view, they are going to struggle, they are going to need to score goals.
“Let’s see what happens. It’s a really intriguing game but I think Liverpool will win on Sunday.”
CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI bagged a goal as he and Reece James stepped up their returns from injury for Chelsea Under-23s against their young Southampton counterparts on Saturday afternoon at St Mary's.
The 18-year-old England international faced five months on the sidelines after rupturing his Achilles tendon against Burnley back in April but has edged ever closer to a first-team return – having come through the last two Chelsea Under-23 matches unscathed.
Billy Gilmour, who has also featured for the Blues' first-team in the Premier League, threaded Hudson-Odoi through with a lovely pass in the 58th minute.
The former Bayern Munich target did the rest, clipping a delightful finish over the helpless Saints 'keeper Harry Lewis.
James, who had a successful loan spell in the Championship with Wigan last term, is another Chelsea academy product looking to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori in breaking through to the Blues first-team this season under Frank Lampard.
CHELSEA defender Emerson Palmieri has hinted he could be fit in time to face Liverpool tomorrow.
The left-back has missed the last two games against Wolves and Valencia, with Marcos Alonso replacing him in the line-up.
But the former Roma left wing-back has uploaded a picture of himself ahead of the clash against the Reds.
Tweeting a snap of him battling against Reece James, he simply stated: “Preparing for the match!”
