Tuesday preview: Racecard, analysis and tips for the 3.25 beginners' chase at Chepstow
A quiet Tuesday afternoon is set alight by a fine beginners' chase at Chepstow.
£12,000 is up for grabs and with the likes of Paul Nicholls and Colin Tizzard represented, it should be an informative contest.
On hurdle ratings alone, this should be a breeze for Truckers' Lodge, though he didn't produce a particularly encouraging display here a couple of weeks ago.
That was a stronger contest than this but it would have been nice to see a little more from Paul Nicholls' contender, who faded rapidly in the closing stages.
He still has plenty of time over fences but he could be vulnerable to the scopey COPPERHEAD.
Colin Tizzard's gelding has long looked as though the switch to the larger obstacles will help him and this is a nice starting point for him.
3.25 Chepstow selection
3.25 Chepstow – Copperhead (Bet now)
Winner of his last two starts over hurdles, he was particularly impressive in handicap company last time and can continue his improvement for a trainer who does so well with this type.
He might be the youngest in the field but he's got a lot stronger over the winter and should be ready for this.
Finawn Bawn is another who finished last season with a flourish and certainly has claims if taking to fences, while Prime Venture has plenty of form to say he can win this but has often found getting his head in front quite hard.
Johanos was thought good enough to take his chance in the National Hunt Chase last season and is worthy of respect, for all that he has a long absence to overcome.
Bact To Black, Putdecashonthedash and Tea Time On Mars will probably be outclassed.
