Introducing The Wonder, a Members-Only Club for the Modern Family in New York City
At the intersection of Hudson St. and Vestry St. in Tribeca sits a light-filled and airy 8,000 square foot members-only club that has a no cell phone policy. There will be classes that give the 411 on famed contemporary artists such as Yayoi Kusama and Jeff Koons, workshops led by writers, chefs, and auctioneers, plus a live DJ during a Saturday night disco party.
However, this exclusive $450 per month venue isn’t limited to creatives in the fashion and entertainment industries like Soho House nor is it a female-focused coworking space such as The Wing and The Jane Club. The Wonder, which is now open, is targeting cool parents with children up to 12-years-old, looking for a family-friendly space to bond with their loved ones.
Unexpected perks include stroller detailing powered by Dyson to help keep your baby buggy looking fresh, a bathroom stocked with organic beauty products from Beautycounter and Ever Eden, and changing stations complete with diapers from Coterie.
The monthly membership fee, which totals to $5,400 a year, allows families of all sizes (plus one caretaker) to join the community building space which features various events, classes lead by children, and workshops.
The Wonder was co-founded by Sarah Robinson and Noria Morales. Robinson is a former manager at M.A.C. Cosmetics, a member of the founding team of MADE Fashion Week, founder of Preconceive, a fertility-focused service company, and a mother of two. Morales is the former market editor at Lucky, Glamour, Wall St. Journal, and InStyle. The mother of two also used to be the head of collaborations and influencer marketing at Target.
The venture also has an all-female leadership team with $2 million in seed funding from angel investors such as Marissa Mayer, the former CEO of Yahoo! and founder of incubator Lumi Labs along with designer Rebecca Minkoff.
