Piers Morgan slams Ant McPartlin for accepting Bafta TV Award

Piers Morgan has taken a swipe at Ant McPartlin for going on stage at the Bafta TV 2019 awards to collect the gong for Best Reality & Constructed Factual.

Ant ‘reluctantly’ joined Declan Donnelly, Holly Willoughby and the rest of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here cast and crew as they accepted the award for the last series, despite not actually taking part in the production.

Instead, Ant took a break from television commitments following his drink driving conviction.

So of course Good Morning Britain host Piers couldn’t keep quiet and took the opportunity to call him out.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, Piers mocked the Britain’s Got Talent presenter’s presence on stage to Gary Lineker, writing: ‘Ant is now known as ‘John Terry’ after last night.’

The controversial presenter was of course referring to the awkward moment when John, dressed in full Chelsea kit, went to collect the Champions League trophy despite missing the 2012 game.

John did the exact same thing a year later at the Europa League final, triggering an onslaught of backlash.

This isn’t the first time that Piers has thrown shade at Ant during award season.

Back in January, the broadcaster expressed outrage over Ant and Dec’s nomination in the TV Presenter category at the National Television Awards, claiming that Ant shouldn’t be included after taking a step back.

‘Imagine if Ant McPartlin actually wins tonight and we don’t,’ Piers said. ‘Seriously, walking the dog for a year. Television personality of the year.

‘Me, hours on end, week after week, nothing.’

Ant and Dec managed to scoop the gong though, making it their 18th in a row in the category.

Piers later complained that all Ant had done all year was ‘walk the dog’ prompting ‘a strongly worded email’ from the latter, before they decided to put their feud to one side.
