‘Peloton husband’ Sean Hunter gets real-life girlfriend a Peloton for Christmas

Some men will never learn.

Despite viral uproar over the recent Peloton holiday commercial “The Gift That Gives Back,” which depicts a man giving a woman an exercise bike for Christmas, the real-life so-called Peloton “husband” appears to be taking cues from his maligned fictional character.

On Christmas Day, actor Sean Hunter shared a photo on Instagram of himself posing with his (alleged) girlfriend alongside his gift to her. It was — you guessed it — a Peloton bike.

And, for the record, his partner — whose name we have not yet learned — is already in fabulous shape.

“Here’s hoping this goes over better the second time…. Merry Christmas to my actual girlfriend (pls don’t leave me)??,” Vancouver-based Hunter wrote in the caption on his Instagram account, @pelotonhusband.

A few of his followers, it turns out, could be suffering from Peloton husband-induced Stockholm Syndrome.

“I still think it’s an awesome gift! It’s pretty funny you tried this a second time!! ?. Merry Christmas!,” wrote @kfriday817.

It would seem that Hunter may have cast his manipulative spell over others besides his fictional wife, as many of his fans appear to be struggling to separate reality from acting.

“You guys make a cute couple. It will go better, I can feel it,” wrote @victor.filippini1003.

“I call this a happy ending! ??,” said @brianne2k.

While Hunter now seems to be wholeheartedly embracing his evil-husband persona, just a few weeks ago he complained in a blog post for Psychology Today that “5 seconds of air time created an array of malicious feedback that is all associated with my face.”

“Unfortunately, the problem is that viewers can mistake an actor as that person after they’ve seen them on television instead of a person given a script with no opinion on what they are being told to portray,” he wrote.

Actress Monica Ruiz, the Peloton “wife,” also felt the need to speak out recently, assuring inquiring minds: “I’m okay.”

The actress told TODAY’s Hoda Kotb that she hopes “people can remember that I’m not actually the Peloton lady and let me work other jobs,” adding that she’d “like to do movies and TV.”

Meanwhile, some folks have apparently ignored the advice of many girlfriends and wives, sharing their own holiday Peloton tales.

Former “The Bachelor” contestant Colton Underwood tweeted in defiance, “I used the peloton commercial as inspiration and I got Cassie a year gym membership… she loved it btw.”

“my dad got my mom a peloton bike for christmas. i am living the nightmare,” said @hayleynicole_99.

“Got a Peloton for Christmas..,” wrote @lexandrapaterno.
