HGTV show House Hunters’ first THROUPLE seeks ‘three-car garage’ and ‘triple sinks’ in new home – The Sun
AFTER airing for over 20 years, HGTV’s House Hunters just featured its first throuple, and they had a lot of special requests for their new home.
The trio needed “triple sinks,” “a big master suite” and more in order to make it work.
On Wednesday’s episode of the reality series, viewers were introduced to married couple Brian and Lori and the woman they fell in love with and had a commitment ceremony with, Geli.
Moving to Colorado Springs as a throuple, and with Brian and Lori’s two kids, they needed a large house that fit their desires, as well as their budget of $400,000 to $500,000.
Geli opened up about their unique relationship, saying: "The past four years, I've been living in Lori and Brian's house.
“So buying a house together, as a throuple, will signify, like, our next big step as a family of five rather than all four of them plus me.”
Of the task, she added: “Buying a house as a throuple, three different wants and needs and three different personalities clashing, more difficult.”
Brian wanted a home office with a view, Lori wanted a fireplace and Geli wanted a white kitchen and a three-car garage.
After seeing three different options, the throuple realized they would all have to make compromises in order to find a place that worked all three of them.
In the end, they went over their budget and purchased a home for $525,000 that had a wide-open backyard, nature-filled views, a large kitchen and a master bathroom that can fit a third sink.
According to E! News, the network said in a statement: "We feature all homebuyers and living choices."
While some viewers were upset to watch this trio on the series, others were happy to see HGTV show a relationship dynamic not often shown on TV.
Author Roxane Gay wrote: “Oh my god. A throuple on House Hunters…Great episode!!!! Educational.”
A second viewer tweeted: “This throuple on house hunters… good for them.”
Another said: “I love representation of real people and relationships!!!”
