Classy Tyson Fury caught by BT Sport cameras applauding Deontay Wilder’s ‘dynamite’ power after world title win – The Sun
TYSON FURY brushed aside his team moments after his stunning world title win to seek out battered and bruised opponent Deontay Wilder.
And in a classy move, the new WBC champ congratulated the American for his part in a fight that will go down in history.
After posing for photos with the likes of coach Javan SugarHill Steward and WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman, Fury made a beeline for a devastated Wilder.
The Gypsy King hugged his opponent, saying: "What a fighter you are.
"Anybody you land on… let me tell you something. That first round, dynamite.
"God bless you and your family."
Fury floored an outclassed Wilder twice on the way to a seventh-round stoppage victory.
Wilder's corner threw the towel in with their man suffering with bleeding from inside his ear.
The American was furious with the decision – but no-one inside the MGM Grand would have any arguments on a sensational night for Fury and British sport.
Even two of the judges who had come in for some stick before they had even started their night's work gave EVERY ROUND to the Gypsy King.
He is a warrior. He will be back. He will be champion again
The other kindly threw the second Wilder's way.
Fury soon took the mic in the ring, where he had more kind words for Wilder.
Speaking after bagging the iconic green WBC belt, he added: “A big shout out to Deontay Wilder. He came here tonight and he manned up and he really did show the heart of a champion.
“I hit him with a clean right that dropped him and he got back up. He is a warrior. He will be back. He will be champion again.
“But I will say, the king has returned to the top of the throne!”
The victory completes a Rocky-style comeback for Fury, who spent two-and-a-half years out the ring battling depression and ballooning up to 28st.
