Gabriela Hearst’s late mother-in-law Austine Hearst was a reporter at The Washington Times-Herald who penned a society column called “Under My Hat” in the 1940s. So when Gabriela decided to create her first-ever menswear collection (available at her New York flagship as well as Mr Porter and Bergdorf Goodman), she looked to Austine’s description of the “Ideal Male Fashion Plate” for sartorial inspiration.
