Marcos Maidana claims he’s still got Floyd Mayweather’s TOOTH that he knocked out in second fight – The Sun

MARCOS MAIDANA claims he still owns the tooth he knocked out of Floyd Mayweather's mouth during their second fight nearly six years ago.

The former two-weight world champ took on Money in a rematch in September 2014 after losing their first encounter on points.

The fight was billed as 'Mayhem' and that was what ensued when Argentine Maidana clocked Mayweather flush in the jaw in the third round.

It's hard to see, but TV cameras appeared to pick up the moment a tooth flew straight out of Mayweather's mouth after the perfectly placed right hook.

Pound for pound king Mayweather – who could be set to return in 'virtual' matches – went on to win via unanimous decision to take his record to 47-0. He retired on 50-0.

And there was a bizarre moment in the eighth round when El Chino apparently bit Mayweather's glove.

Maybe he was just milking the fact he had a full set of gnashers, though, as opposed to his gappy rival.

Maidana posted a photo of what appeared to be his foe's tooth on Instagram to his 235,000 followers.

Mayweather has denied losing a tooth in the fight.

Speaking about the bout, he said: "In the third round, when he hit me with that shot after the bell, it was a real good shot. It got my attention.

"It was nothing I never felt before, but it was a really good shot which got my attention.

"No, he didn't knock my teeth out. Not at all! He's a strong guy, he's a good puncher, but no, as far as my teeth missing, absolutely not."

The pair are now rumoured to be looking at an incredible trilogy fight in February or March next year, Maidana's promotional company claim.

Jorge Cali, who was lined up to fight retired Maidana in an exhibition before it was cancelled to the coronavirus pandemic, even predicts the 36-year-old would get the better of 43-year-old Mayweather this time.

He told World Boxing News: "Maidana can definitely come back. I know he would believe that if he had a new fight with Floyd, Marcos could win with no doubts this time.

"I think we all saw the first fight and think he won it. That’s why there was that second one where Floyd proved to be the undisputed number one.
