Betty White’s Publicist: The Coronavirus Is Afraid of the Golden Girls Icon

The 98-year-old actress is said to be staying safe and keeping her sense of humor amid the pandemic, while enjoying daily visit from a number of wild animals in her beautiful backyard.

A publicist for the 98-year-old actress assured that the funnywoman is “doing very well” in quarantine, joking that “the virus is afraid” of her.

In an email statement to Today, the representative revealed how the actress playing Elka Ostrovsky on “Hot in Cleveland” protected herself and stayed safe during the global crisis. “No one permitted in except those who must,” her rep explained, before adding that she “has helpers who are great with her.”

White’s publicist additionally noted that despite having to stay at home, “The Lost Valentine” actress did not lose her sense of humor. “We always have laughs,” the rep stated.

As for her day-to-day activity, White was said to be enjoying the accompaniment of the wildlife in her backyard. “Betty has beautiful backyard with a number of wild animals visiting. Two ducks always come by to say hello. They waddle up to her glass door and look in,” her rep shared. “The animal community is watching over her.”

Days earlier, White herself told Closer Weekly that she is “blessed with incredibly good health.” She added, “That’s something you appreciate a lot.” Her entertainer friend Tom Sullivan additionally revealed that she spent her time in self-isolation reading the Los Angeles Times “cover to cover.”

“She owns literally thousands of crossword puzzle books and is constantly doing them to keep her mind jumping,” he added. “This is really serious with her.” Another close friend, in the meantime, claimed that she has “tried Zooming her Scrabble game with her friends, but it’s not quite the same.”

On the actress’ fondness of vodka martini, her friend explained to the magazine, “Betty loves to joke that vodka keeps her young. She loves the image of her sitting at home in a rocking chair, drinking a martini and watching game shows, but she’s not really a big drinker. That’s not her. She’ll only take a few sips of a cocktail if the occasion calls for it.”
