Kanye West Launches College Fund For George Floyd’s Daughter

Kanye West has reportedly launched a 529 education plan for George Floyd’s six-year-old daughter, Gianna.

Ye announced a donation of $2 million for college savings funds for Floyd’s daughter, legal costs for the families of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, and to help black-owned businesses in crisis in his native Chicago and other cities.

The star joined street protests in his hometown, condemning the murder of Floyd by Minneapolis police. He was spotted on Thursday in the #JusticeForGeorgeFloyd march in Chicago.

Derek Chauvin, the officer who pinned Floyd to the ground by his neck for several minutes, was arrested last week and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter.

Later, the charge against him was changed to a more serious count of second-degree murder. Officers Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng were charged on Wednesday with aiding and abetting second-degree murder.

Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, also unarmed like Floyd, were shot dead in separate incidents earlier.
