Normani Pays Homage to Naomi Campbell with Her “WAP” Music Video Cameo

Normani took inspiration from one of her ultimate style icons for her stellar appearance in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP” music video, released today.

Fans quickly pointed out on social media that the houndstooth-print outfit Normani wears in the visuals closely resembles the classic Alaïa ensemble that Naomi Campbell modeled in an Ellen Von Unwerth–captured snap.

In the “WAP” video, Normani dons a printed bustier and hot shorts with a matching beret and gloves, along with strappy, thigh-high stiletto heels. In the circulating Campbell photograph, the supermodel is seen wearing a checkered-print coordinating set including a lace-back tank top, high-waist bottoms, a matching hat, and peep-toe pumps from Alaïa’s 1991 Tati collection.

Normani’s music video appearance wasn’t the only time the pop star has channeled the legendary supermodel, however. Last Halloween, the singer dressed up as Campbell from an image captured by photographer Herb Ritts. In an another Alaïa moment, she payed homage to the ’90s supermodel in a leopard-print bodysuit, gloves, a beret, and stilleto booties.
