Family on caravan trip find heartwarming letter tucked away in hidden drawer
When a family bought a caravan, they stumbled across a sweet note left by a previous owner.
Tucked away in a drawer, the Brisbane-based family found a letter from a 10-year-old called Poppy.
In the adorable message, the primary school child outlined some of the adventures she’d had in the motor home.
She also asked the family to “enjoy the caravan” and “follow their dreams”.
The heartwarming note reads: “Hi, my name is Poppy and I am 10-years-old.
“This used to be our caravan and we travelled half of Australia in it. This was my bed (the top bunk) and it was very good.”
The letter continues: “This drawer (which is where you found this letter) was where I kept all of my special things that I couldn’t leave behind when we went travelling.
“I hope you enjoy this caravan very much.
“I am in grade 5 and I am very good at art.
“I have a message for you – follow your dreams and if you have the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.
“Enjoy this caravan.”
When ABC Adelaide shared a picture of the cute letter on Facebook, it warmed everyone’s hearts.
The post racked up 89,000 likes and thousands of comments – and many praised Poppy for her kind words.
One responder wrote: “Poppy your letter is a credit to you, and your family for rearing you to be so kind and looking after people more than your own age.
“It would be wonderful to find a special message like this”
Another said: “Wise words Poppy – for then, for now and for always.”
And a third added: “I would always keep this letter in that drawer, and if I sold the caravan I would add my own and pass on the tradition. This is so sweet.
“I love Poppy's heart and her name!”
